BANGOR — A taste of Nashville is coming to a new restaurant in Bangor. The one-stop destination, Smoke & Steel BBQ, will offer barbecue, live music and axe throwing.
“They felt like it was a niche that would kind of go well with the city,” said Chris Jones, owner of Smoke & Steel BBQ. “He came up with the Nashville to Bangor kind of theme.”
The food is all southern barbecue.
“There’s a lot of years in experience coming behind the food. It’s not just something we were just trying to throw out,” said Jones.
Jones said he’s been barbecuing for 15 years. The restaurant’s head chef, Chris Kenney, has been doing it for 10 years.
“Picking the menu it’s taken me months to perfect it,” said Kenney.
Ribs, brisket, pulled pork, wings… If that doesn’t make your mouth water, There are some options Kenney calls, “off the walls.”
“For instance the Reuben, we’re doing bacon-wrapped jalapeños for an appetizer, we’re going a Texas sheet cake,” said Kenney.
As for hitting the target, experts will be in the lane with you.
“If you want any tips, they’re there to go over the safety rules,” said Jones. “But they’re there to make sure you have a good time, too.”
Reservations are open for axe throwing, however, Jones said dining is first come first serve at the moment.
“If Facebook is any indication we’re expecting to be pretty busy,” said Jones.
