WINDHAM –– An inmate at the Maine Correctional Center died Saturday morning.
Maine Department of Corrections officials said 69-year-old Arthur Gardiner of Swanville died just after 11 a.m.
The cause of death is currently under investigation.
Gardiner had been in prison since 2018 after being convicted of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drug charges.
Officials say his death was not COVID-19 related.
His release date was supposed to be March 2023.
