BANGOR — Federal agents on Tuesday seized a couple of replica grenades a passenger had in her checked luggage at Bangor International Airport.
A spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration said the paperweights were taken from a Florida woman bound for Charlotte, North Carolina.
Daniel Velez said the fake grenades were turned over to the Bangor Police Department. He said TSA agents have confiscated some unusual items over the years.
“A woman had a pink comb with a sharp knife hidden inside the comb. We see a lot of weapons that are kind of hidden every day throughout the country, whether it’s a comb or a cane,” Velez said.
Velez said if someone is packing their suitcase and wonder whether something might not be legal to take on a plane, they probably should leave it home.
