BREWER — This past spring, the Orono town council appointed an Ad Hoc committee that focuses on addressing issues with diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Now, that committee is suggesting the town change its logo.
The logo currently depicts Chief Joseph Orono and can be found throughout the town.
The committee composed 10 recommendations in an effort to provide a seal that respects diversity and inclusion for all.
“Members of the public and the community I think are very well-intentioned in wanting to move forward with the very important work of ensuring we are an inclusive community that supports diverse populations and provides equitable services,” said Sophia Wilson, town manager.
The town council has not announced if they will change the seal or not.
