ALFRED (WGME) – An Acton woman has been sentenced for killing her ex-husband.
Kandee Collind, formerly known as Kandee Weyland, pleaded guilty to the murder charge in August 2018.
She sought to withdraw that plea two months later.
Collind was charged with the murder of her ex-husband Scott Weyland in February 2017. Police said she stabbed and killed him in front of their two children after she learned he was granted primary custody.
Several family members spoke in court during Collind’s sentencing hearing Monday, with most of them asking not to be on camera.
Collind addressed her ex-husband’s family.
“I’m very sorry for Scott’s death. It’s nothing I foreseen. I do think of him, however, in the morning when I get up. And throughout the day,” she said.
“The kids — I think of them all the time as well. I shudder to think what kind of problems they’re going to have when they’re older. What have I done?” she said.
Collind will spend 32 years in prison.
