LAGRANGE – Authorities say one person was killed and another was injured in an accident that shut down a portion of Medford Road in LaGrange Tuesday evening.
According to Katy England of the Maine State Police, it happened around 6:20 p.m. Police said an SUV went off the right side of Medford Road and rolled onto its roof, trapping the occupants inside.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person was taken to the hospital via LifeFlight with what are considered non-life-threatening injuries, according to a statement from England.
The identities of those involved in the crash have not yet been released.
State police are handling the investigation into what caused the accident. State Trooper Andrew Person said speed and alcohol were factors in the accident.
Authorities from LaGrange, Bradford, Milo, and Hudson were also on the scene.
First responders are reconstructing the scene of the crash. which caused the Medford Road closure for the night.
