MILLINOCKET — A high-speed chase that began in New Brunswick ended without incident in Millinocket.
According to a Facebook post from the East Millinocket Police Department, on Monday, shortly before 2 p.m. police attempted to locate a motorcycle that had passed through the Houlton port of entry without stopping at U.S. Customs.
The motorcycle was traveling southbound on Interstate 95 toward Medway, reaching speeds of nearly 150 mph.
Police were told by an officer in a Maine Forest Service helicopter the vehicle had exited in Medway and was headed toward East Millinocket.
An officer located the bike and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver again failed to stop.
The pursuit traveled through Medway, East Millinocket and into Millinocket before the motorcyclist finally came to a stop on Katahdin Avenue.
Officers took 27-year-old Jeremy Richard of New Brunswick into custody without incident.
Richard was charged with eluding, criminal speeding, failure to stop for law enforcement, driving to endanger and reckless conduct. He was turned over to U.S. Border Patrol in regard to the original incident.
