MACHIAS – The Downeast Salmon Federation is looking for some help collecting data about rainbow smelt populations.
As part of a massive data collection effort, the federation will be training volunteers to help monitor populations in Downeast Maine.
Training sessions will be held in Machias on Thursday, June 11th and in Pembroke on Friday, June 12th.
Volunteers will learn about the smelt and their life cycle and how to help gather data the federation needs to keep populations healthy.
