STATEWIDE – New grant money could help prepare the state’s inmates for employment once they are released from jail.
According to U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King the Department of Labor is granting half a million dollars to Coastal Counties Workforce.
The money will help create an American Job Center at the Cumberland County Jail. The center will provide pre-release employment, as well as career advice.
This is part of a larger national initiative to help support transitioning offenders.
