BANGOR – The public is invited to a free nature walk this weekend, in search of the rare Lady’s Slipper.
Tomorrow morning at 10, members of the Bangor Land Trust will take people though The Walden-Parke Preserve where the unique flower can be found in pink and white.
“They need really specific soil to grow in so its really rare that you find a spot that has Lady’s Slippers so we’re really lucky to have quite a few of them here on our preserve.” Katelin Craven, Chair, Bangor Land Trust Programs Committee
The flower is a member of the orchid family and gets its name because it resembles ballet slippers. If you ever come across the lady’s slipper you’re asked not to pick it.
