PLEASANT LAKE – The Sebasticook Regional Land Trust is planning a boat launch Saturday to celebrate a generous gift from a member of the community.
For 40 years, Kent Hewitt owned Pleasant Lake Preserve, allowing the public to use it for hunting, fishing, and other activities.
In 2011, he gave the property to the trust to ensure it would be kept open for everyone to enjoy.
“We completed the trail system last fall, and now that Saturday is National Trails Day, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to bring Kent back, show him the trails, have the community come and express our appreciation for this tremendous gift. So we’re gonna have a short celebration here at the boat launch, and then we’re going to paddle out to the property and explore the trails.” Jennifer Irving, Exec. Dir., Sebasticook Regional Land Trust
Everyone is invited to the boat launch, which begins at 10 a.m. , just bring your own canoe or kayak.
