STATEWIDE – The Coast Guard is reminding mariners to properly mark vessels before hitting the water.
This comes after the Coast Guard responded to an adrift dinghy and possible person in the water over the weekend. After a brief search and rescue effort, the dinghy’s owner notified officials, letting them know it was his.
Lieutenant Scott McCann urges all paddle and oar vessel owners to have clear and identifiable contact information on their craft. The coast guard provides free waterproof decals. Anyone interested can contact the Coast Guard Sector Northern New England Command Center.
