SACO – A deadly single car crash on the Maine turnpike in Saco kills one person.
Maine State Police say 30 year old Michael Cantara of Saco was killed when his car slammed into a speed limit sign and then went into the woods.
It happened around 6:30 Thursday morning in the northbound lane near the Saco tolls. Officials say they were looking for a silver BMW who may have been involved somehow, but say they found that driver later in the morning.
“We don’t know what the situation was, but we know the silver BMC had some sort of I wouldn’t say if it was some sort of contact, but there may have been something going on. They may have just witnessed it or they may have information on how the accident actually occurred.” Lt. Erik Baker, Maine State Police
Police spent time reconstructing the crash. Police are asking anyone who witnesses the crash to call them.
