AUGUSTA – Augusta police, still look for the person responsible for breaking into the Elks Lodge, and stealing 15,000 dollars cash.
The crime happened early Tuesday morning. Police say there’s about 5,000 dollars worth of damage inside.
The stolen money was supposed to go to a fundraising concert. And proceeds from that concert were expected to go to the Travis Mills Foundation for injured veterans.
“And it was one of those things where it was waiting to be deposited in a short period of time. So obviously that’s an issue we’re looking into as well is who knew that the money would be there, and that type of thing. Because it certainly isn’t something that they leave laying around for extended periods of time.” Jared Mills Augusta Deputy Police Chief
The Travis Mills Foundation director says the hope the community will rally around the Augusta Elks Lodge.
