AUGUSTA – Employees, veterans and friends of the State’s VA hospital held a fundraiser today for homeless vets.
This is the fifth annual VA, 2-k, Walk and Roll. The walk benefits homeless veterans and promotes employee health and wellness.
There was a barbecue picnic, ice cream, and dunk tank.
People also donated cash, kitchen items, cleaning supplies and paper towels for homeless veterans to use once they’ve found a home.
“These are donations people have contributed. It’s items that a homeless vet would need when they move into a new apartment.” Omer Demers, Event Organizer
This event raised nearly 30,000 dollars last year. Organizers hope to top that.
