AUGUSTA – The legislature votes to over-ride the governor’s veto of a bill that would allow moose permit transfers to family members.
The bill allows one family member to transfer a moose permit to another family member, but only in certain circumstances.
With strong bi-partisan support, the bill received unanimous committee approval.
Governor Paul LePage vetoed the bill saying it opened a new avenue for families to quote “engage in new schemes to try to game the system”
The bill will become law 90 days after the legislature adjourns.
