OSSIPEE NH – New Hampshire firefighters battled a massive wildfire in Ossipee.
Several Maine stations were sent to help this week and local residents are going above and beyond to assist the crews.
“Well i saw a big plume of smoke looked across and i thought, boy, that looks like where we live” Carol and Jim Rymes came back from vacation – to a new view out their front window. “We came up and everybody was here in the field” their home – now home base for these crews on a serious mission. “It’s the least we can do especially because they’re protecting our property too on Wednesday the brush fire doubled in size to more than 130 acres. Just the extreme dry conditions that we’re having this spring.” Jim Rymes, Resident “I’ll tell you it was cooking, it was really going Forest Rangers say it could have been even worse.”

All homes in this area are safe. The sound of helicopters flying overhead remains a comfort.
