WALDO COUNTY – The Waldo County Sheriff’s Department has filed charges against the teenager they say fired shots into the yard of a Belfast High School student last week.
16-year-old Tyler Ellsworth of Swanville is still on the run and deputies are warning that charges also may be brought against anyone who may be hiding him.
Investigators say Ellsworth was a passenger in a car that drove by a Swanville home last Thursday. He allegedly threatened to kill a 16-year-old boy who was standing in the front yard and then fired several shots in his direction.
As a precaution Belfast high school was placed into lock down mode last Friday.
If found, Ellsworth will be charged with terrorizing with a dangerous weapon and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon. Today, deputies cautioned that Ellsworth may still have the gun he allegedly used in last week’s shooting.
