BELFAST – The incident happened at a home here on Town House Road in Swanville Thursday evening.
Investigators say the 16-year-old victim was on his front lawn when a car drove by. The passenger shouted death threats and then fired several gunshots into a wooded area right near him.
“That’s somebody we want to be able to apprehend and find this gun and get it off the street” Lt Jason Trundy says the victim and suspect know each other. “this is definitely an isolated incident between two individuals who had a history”
He says the public is not in danger but when those shots were fired someone could have been hurt.
“There could have been anybody walking around the home could have been somebody else working in the yard, bullets ricochet”
The suspect faces charges for “terrorizing with a dangerous weapon and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.”
He’s not being named because he’s a minor… Which makes finding him more difficult.
“We’d love to be able to release a photo and a name and get the publics help in trying to locate this person but unfortunately where he is a juvenile we can’t do that”
The victim is a student at Belfast Area High School where employees are on high alert and the superintendent is reassuring parents that the doors are always locked. “The only way in is the secretary who monitors a computer video screen at her station lets you in and that’s for all our schools”
But officials say they don’t expect the suspect to approach the victim again… At his home or at school.
Both of these charges are class c felonies.
