ST. ALBANS – A St. Albans man is out on bail tonight following a high speed chase in that town Tuesday night.
Somerset County Deputy Toby Blodgett spotted a car driving erratically on Main Street in Saint Albans at about 10 o’clock.
Initially the car pulled over for the deputy, but the driver sped off as Blodgett approached the driver’s side window.
The deputy estimated the car was traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour. For safety reasons, Blodgett did not pursue the car at a high rate of speed, but did eventually come across it in a ditch on the Ripley Road.
He says the driver, 32-year-old Christopher Devoe fled into the woods. A police k-9 was brought to the scene and was able to locate Devoe.
He has been charged with eluding a police officer and failing to stop for an officer.
