BANGOR – What appeared to be a routine traffic stop turned into a drug bust in Bangor.
Police say it all started around one o’clock Sunday morning when the driver of a Suburban ran over a concrete traffic island on Hammond Street and nearly struck a police cruiser that was on patrol. The officer stopped the vehicle and discovered a large quantity of illegal drugs inside.
He also learned that 6 of the 7 people inside had suspended or revoked licenses and four of them were out on bail for previous violations. 6 of them were arrested on a variety of charges.
The drugs included heroin, bath salts, crack cocaine and marijuana. Needles, scales and other drug paraphernalia was also found.
The names of the six people arrested have not been released.
