STATEWIDE – Families are eagerly awaiting word from loved ones who were in Nepal when the deadly earthquake struck. One Mainer is waiting to hear from his mother.
From posting on websites to calling two embassies, one here in the United States, the other in Nepal, Khaled Habash say he’s exhausted all efforts trying to locate his mother Dawn Habash. Habash is on a 10 day trek across Nepal.
Her son says the last time family heard from her was right before she started that journey.
Khaled says he has heard from a woman on the same trek as his mother, he’s hoping she is with that group. He says his mom doesn’t have a cellphone with her, making getting in touch even harder.
Though he’ says he’s anxious, and worried. Khaled says he’s hoping for the best. “It’s just a waiting game at this point but all could be well, she could be fine and just have no way to communicate.”
