That’s according to the head of economic development, D’arcy Main Boyington. “Following phase 1 of the project. The wheels are in motion for phase 2, which will extend the Riverwalk from the Chamberlain Bridge to the Penobscot Bridge. And would-be business owners want in.” “We’ve had a huge explosion of business requests compared to the past few years, so the economy has definitely started to change. We;re feeling that here, we have in particular a lot businesses that want to be on our waterfront.. We primarily food and beverage businesses, but not just hospitality, also food and beverage producers. So we’re very excited about that.”
Main-Boyington says to put things in perspective, her office holds a grand opening for every new business that comes to Brewer. They have to budget for those events. And that in comparison to the past few years, Brewer has already blown through those allotted funds.
