BREWER – While the temperatures are finally getting warmer the effects of this past winter continue to be felt across the state.
Frost heaves and pot holes around every corner wreaking havoc as people make their way through area cities and towns..
David cote, the head of Brewer’s public works department, says that a winter filled with cold and snow is nothing new.. It was the amount.. And how late is all kept coming that set he and his crews back this year. “We are probably a good two to three weeks behind on our sweeping, usually we get out at least the last week of march.. Sometimes we’ll get a little storm or something, it’s no big deal, but it’s warm enough during the day where we can get our sweeping machines out and usually we havea crew out scraping but this year there was so much snow that until really this week we just couldn’t do it.”
Cote adds that public works has a bunch of projects in the works for the very near future, Including continued work on the washington street school, a possible sewer reconstruction and their annual spring clean up.
