COREA – A developer has announced plans to build the largest solar array in the state of Maine.
Kim Kenway has purchased land at the former Navy base in the Downeast town of Corea. Kenway wants to set up solar panels on the 12 acres of land and sell power to the Jackson Laboratory and Maine utility companies.
But before the $9-million dollar project can happen, Kenway is awaiting word in Augusta as lawmakers consider several bills dealing with solar energy.
One would allow solar energy projects to sell power for renewable energy credits which is what Kenway is seeking to do.
