WINSLOW – An intoxicated man was rescued after falling down a 40 foot embankment by the Kennebec River.
The Winslow Fire and Police Departments were dispatched to Benton Avenue around 11:30 this morning.
When authorities arrived on scene, they found the friend who called 911 also down the embankment preventing the intoxicated man from falling into the river. Officials scaled the embankment to help bring the two men to safety by creating a pulley system, The man was transported to Thayer Hospital with non-life threatening injuries for evaluation.
The incident tied up both the fire and police department for over an hour.
