PORTLAND – And spent about 20 minutes in the water before being rescued by a fishing boat.
The Coast Guard says 55-year-old John Richio told them he was on the Peaks Island Ferry when he fell overboard yesterday afternoon.
The Coast Guard says he spent about 20 minutes in the 38-degree water, before he was rescued by a fishing vessel that happened to pass by.
The gentleman was very lucky that this boat happened to be in the right place at the right time because the water was very cold and he was very fortunate that they could save him
Richio was treated for hypothermia at Maine Medical Center. The incident is under investigation.
