BREWER – Next time you need to go grocery shopping, consider a newer, eco-friendly option.
This marks the opening of Brewer’s newest grocery store, but it may be different than what you’re used to.
“This supermarket, we really wanted it to have more of a local vibe.” Sarah Morneault, Co-owner, Tiller & Rye “We wanted it to be either all natural or all organic. And again, local. Whenever we can source locally, we will source locally.”
Unlike chain supermarkets, Tiller and Rye focuses on supporting the farming industry in Maine.
Located right over the bridge, Tiller and Rye welcomes customers into Brewer. Mayor Matthew Vachon hopes the supermarket will bring a positive energy to the area. “It replaces a building that has been dormant for some time and really pumping new life into this area.
to have such a positive store with such a group of energetic people, it’s very important to us.” Mayor Matthew Vachon, City of Brewer
And so far, the customers seem to be loving it.
Tiller and Rye also offers a cafe with a juice and smoothie bar, sandwiches, salads, and other items made with the stores products.
