AUGUSTA – More than 600 Maine kids will get a chance to attend conservation programs and camps thanks to the Maine moose permit auction.
More than 122,000 dollars was raised for youth conservation education scholarships through the auction. Ten hunters bid for the opportunity to hunt moose in Maine during the 2015 season.
Proceeds fund partial scholarships for the students to attend the University of Maine 4H Camp and Learning Center at Bryant Pond and to the Greenland Point Center in Princeton.
The camps provide boys and girls ages 8 to 17 with the opportunity to participate in various outdoor and classroom activities all related to conservation education.
