BANGOR – Senator Angus King is trying to raise awareness about the need to improve veteran facilities around the nation as Congress considers a budget plan.
King says the President has cut 10 million dollars from the 90 million dollars proposed to pay for renovations and other issues. He says he hopes the money will be restored to help care for those who served our nation. Senator King says the government has identified $200 million dollars worth of projects to replace, upgrade, or expand all of the Maine facilities to meet mandated changes in long-term care delivery. Part of one billion dollars worth of projects needed around the nation. He hopes Congress will at least maintain the proposed funding for the coming budget to help chip away at those projects.
