(Bangor, ME) – A barber shop located downtown Bangor turned its barber shop into a dance floor on Thursday night.
Cornerstone Barber Shop stayed open a few hours longer so the owner Gene Spearin could practice his dance moves with his dance partner of ten years.
“We practice for a few hours each week and sometimes people will see us and stop in to watch,” said Spearin.
Spearin has been cutting hair for fifty years and dancing for ten. Every week they spend hours practicing dance moves for upcoming competitions in Boston.
They have won a few awards during past competitions. They hope to place first soon.
Chris Dispenzieri became his dancing partner over ten years ago after taking a few lessons with Spearin. Since those lessons, they haven’t stopped moving their feet.
“Many people call him Gene the Mean Machine. We just like to have fun and share the joy of music and dance at the corner shop,” said Dispenzieri.
She hopes they will encourage others to get out and dance.
