Majority Republicans went ahead and seated a Senator from Long Island depite questions that remain about the election results.
A Democrat won the election for District 25, but a recount showed that Republican Cathy Manchester actually won by 11 votes.
The problem is there’s still a discrepancy about so called “phantom ballots” that appeared during the recount.
The Secretary of States office says there turned out to be more ballots cast than were accounted for on election night and officials want to know where they came from.
Democrats say it might be a case of voter fraud and they want a thorough investigation.
The Senate voted to seat Cathy Manchester anyway.
A seat she will continue to hold at least until the investigation is completed.
