AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday that another 882 cases of COVID-19 have been reported around the state since Saturday and that seven more Mainers have died after contracting the illness, bringing the statewide death toll to 1,102.
The Maine CDC said the new cases pushed the total since March of last year to 98,607.
Due to their high rates of transmission, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is continuing to recommend that people in all of Maine’s 16 counties wear face coverings in public indoor settings.
To date, 2,675 Mainers have been hospitalized due to COVID-19, according to an update posted on the Maine CDC’s website.
Currently, 201 people are being treated for COVID-19 in the hospital, 68 of them in critical care and 31 on ventilators.
So far, 1,799,010 Mainers have received the COVID-19 vaccine. Of those, 840,023 were first doses and 895,729 were final doses.
