SEARSPORT- About 100 bikers rode from Searsport to Brewer, then Prospect to remember a fallen hero.
Master Sergeant Ryan C. Love was an active-duty Marine, who passed away 8 years ago.
Event organizers said they wanted to draw attention to the issue of suicide.
That’s why any money raised goes towards helping veterans.
“This year we weren’t exactly sure which veteran or veterans were going to get it,” said Raye Rolston, Ryan’s mother in law and co-founder of the ride. “Then the horrific accident of the Fallen 7 happened in June. Then the light went off and I said ‘I know what we’re going to do with the money'”
Rolston led the ride on Love’s bike.
She told us he started riding just months prior to his passing.
“He just came home and ended up being one of the statistic of 22 and took his life,” Rolston said. “My life has never been the same and never will be.”
Ryan also left behind a wife and daughter.
“Keep your head up. Always be strong,” said Cleon Buzzell, his friend and co-founder of the ride. “If you need help, talk to someone. It takes a bigger man, or woman, to ask for help instead of pull the trigger so to speak.”
