STATEWIDE – A state forest ranger was seriously hurt Saturday night in an accident in Downeast Maine, according to the state fire marshal’s office.
Ranger Dustin Pickering reportedly jumped off a boat into a lake in Topsfield when his head struck a rock, state officials said.
Pickering suffered several broken vertebrae as a result of that jump, according to investigators.
State officials said Pickering was flown to a hospital in Boston due to the extent of his injuries and at last check was listed in serious condition.
The fire marshal’s office is asking the people of Maine to pray for Ranger Pickering, along with his wife and three young children.
