OLD TOWN – Fire crews from Old Town and surrounding communities were called to a fire Monday at the ND Paper mill.
ND Paper spokeswoman Amy Lee said a small smudge fire ignited on the boiler house roof and that no injuries resulted from the incident.
A contractor working on the roof noticed smoldering and advised the control room, Lee said. She said employees used extinguishers to control the smudge until firefighters arrived.
Lee said mill security officials called firefighters at 10:35 a.m. and that the fire was out by about 11:30 a.m. and caused only minor damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and additional information about the fire will be released when the investigation is complete, Lee said.
