BANGOR – For more than 20 years, Bangor played host to the Downtown Bangor Sidewalk Art Festival. On Saturday, the event returns after being gone for nearly a decade.
As the premier arts and culture destination in eastern Maine, the Downtown Bangor Partnership hopes to revive the festival with more interactive events.
“We’re going to have the Buoy Local demo tent, and there’ll be glassblowers blowing glass, wood carving, potters, watercolor painters painting. So there will be active things to see. There’s a children’s area over by the University of Maine art museum, in the [Eastern Maine Development Corp.] parking lot,” said Downtown Bangor Coordinator Betsy Lundy.
Performances by the Maine Street R&B Revue, Penobscot Theater’s Dramatic Academy and the Maine Academy of Modern Music Rock Camp will fill downtown Bangor with music and theatrics.
The festival stretches from the Bangor Arts Exchange Building to the Bangor Public Library but visitors are invited to visit all of downtown to see just what the city has to offer.
