STATEWIDE – Scammers are now pretending to be U.S. marshals in an attempt to get a hold of your money.
That’s according to U.S. marshals in the District of Maine.
The marshals have been receiving reports of con artists spoofing the office’s number to try and trick people into sending money.
Officials said U.S. marshals will never ask for debit or credit card information or any other bank routing information.
Anyone who thinks they may have fallen victim to a scam is asked to report the incident to their local FBI office and the Federal Trade Commission.
