Old Palmyra school house destroyed in fire

PALMYRA - A fire early Sunday morning destroyed a former schoolhouse and melted siding on a mobile home next door, according to the town's fire chief.

The fire at the vacant Adams School at 1372 Main St. began around 2:40 a.m.


Fire crews from palmyra and six nearby towns responded. The fire chief said no injuries were reported.


The state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause.
