BAXTER STATE PARK – The Maine Forest Rangers assisted Baxter State Park Rangers in attempting to rescue two hikers on Mount Katahdin Saturday.
Maine Forest Rangers posted a photo of the scene on their social media accounts. The hikers are toward the middle of the photo.
On their social media posts Maine Forest Rangers said that they were unable to extract those two hikers below the Knife Edge because of gusty winds, and the rescue mission had to be put on hold for now.
Instead they lowered food, a tent, and a medical kit down for them to stay overnight.
The rangers posted the hikers are not injured and were off the trail.
