AUGUSTA – After months of hard work, state lawmakers are headed home for the summer. The 129th legislative session wrapped up at 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
Legislators stayed at the capitol through the night debating and reviewing bills but with the session behind them, one senator said their accomplishments made it worthwhile.
“I think we did some amazing work, I truly do. I mean, there was a lot to be done to begin with. But I think if you start with the budget, the bi-partisan budget, that really shows that we value what we’ve heard from our constituents all over the state,” said Sen Eloise Vitelli, D-Arrowsic.
The senator also said she feels the cooperation between Republicans and Democrats will continue in the next session .
