PITTSFIELD – People got to take a trip back in time as part of Pittsfield’s bicentennial celebrations.
A group of people has been working to restore the local train depot and on Wednesday they had a short ceremony to recognize its history.
According to one of the bicentennial’s organizers, the station is one of the last depots of its type on an active track.
That is why organizers brought in an antique train that people could tour .
“I think the more we can remind people of the past, the better that is for the future because I believe we learn from our success and our mistakes,” said Jan Laux of the Bicentennial Executive Committee.
