HOWLAND – State police have confirmed one person is dead after a crash Wednesday afternoon in Howland.
A Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson said the crash happened around 1 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 .
Authorities said only one vehicle was involved and that one of the northbound lanes had to be closed while authorities worked to clear the scene.
There was another person in the car besides the victim at the time of the accident but police could not comment on the extent of that person’s injuries.
The identities of the victim and the other person involved have not yet been released.
Police are still working to determine what caused the accident.
