ELLSWORTH – Stopping for kids crossing the street is nothing new but sometimes those kids don’t wear backpacks.
One school bus driver in Ellsworth stopped for a special crossing on Monday.
She and others who stopped in traffic watched a mother deer cross State Street near the high school.
Her young fawn then made its way across the busy roadway.
Mom didn’t go far and popped her head up on the far side to make sure her little one knew which way to go. Then the two disappeared into a wooded area heading toward Leonard Lake.
