PORTLAND – The man accused of shooting Somerset County sheriff’s Cpl. Eugene Cole has been found guilty.
John Williams faces 25 years to life in prison for gunning down the veteran law enforcement officer on April 25, 2018 while Cole on duty in Norridgewock for the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
Jurors took less than three hours to make their decision.
Some of Cpl. Eugene Cole’s family members cried silently as the jury was polled on the guilty verdict in his shooting death.
