Police: Distracted driving, speed factors in Palmyra crash

Written by

PALMYRA - Investigators say distracted driving and speed were factors in a multi-vehicle accident in Palmyra Thursday afternoon.

According to the Somerset County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened around 2:26 at the intersection of Route 2 and the Madawaska Road.

Authorities say Rachel Bryant, 61, and her 65-year-old husband Carroll, both of St. Albans, were traveling west when she attempted to make a left turn onto Madawaska Road.

Devin Corson, 21, of Palmyra rear-ended the Bryant's car, pushing it into the eastbound lane, where it was hit by an oncoming tractor trailer.

Rachel was taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities summonsed Corson for failure to produce evidence of insurance and failure to maintain control of a vehicle.
