BELFAST - A local man was arrested by state police after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a bus station in Belfast Thursday.

According to state police, around 6:45 Thursday morning a state police corporal on patrol in Frankfort overheard dispatchers reporting a truck had been stolen from the RSU 71 school bus garage.

The officer was on the lookout for the vehicle in the area when he passed it driving on North Frankfort Road.

Authorities say the corporal turned around, noticed the truck driving erratically and pulled it over.

The driver, 54-year-old Frank Johnson, a transient, has now been charged with operating under the influence, operating after suspension and unauthorized use of property.

He was taken to the Waldo County Jail.
