GUILFORD – Town officials, who got the remains of six people when a local funeral home closed a few months back, have successfully reunited most of them with their families.
One, however, remains elusive — Sumner Dyer, who died in 1986 in Wellington.
The other five are on their way to being put to rest and again to bring some closure to their families, who may not have known these remains were still out there.
Former Town Manager Tom Goulette sent one urn to Massachusetts and one to Arkansas. One is going to Athens and one was claimed by a local family.
Goulette said Dyer’s father is buried in South Portland and if no family surfaces, he’ll probably ship the remains down there so he can be buried by his family.
