Jury set in Williams murder trial

Written by

PORTLAND - The jury is now set for the trial of a man accused of shooting and killing a Somerset County sheriff's deputy.

John Williams has been charged with murder in the death of Cpl. Eugene Cole in April of last year.

According to an assistant attorney general prosecuting the case, the jury was selected at the end of the day Tuesday.

It took attorneys two days to sift through hundreds of potential jurors before deciding on the 12 jurors and a few alternates.

Opening statements are expected to be heard on Monday in Portland.
