HAMPDEN – The draft Regional School Unit 22 budget for next year shows a projected increase of nearly $1.3 million, or around 4 percent.
The proposed fiscal year 2020 school budget is $33.2 million for Hampden, Frankfort, Newburgh, and Winterport.
The draft budget shows increases in all budget lines, except transportation and debt service, which saw decreases.
The district budget meeting is 7 p.m. Thursday at Hampden Academy.
“Our budget increase being recommended is a 4.0 percent gross increase and our local increase, meaning the assessments to our four towns, is a 4.3 percent local increase,” said Superintendent Richard Lyons.
The budget validation vote for all four towns within the district is Tuesday, June 11. Residents will vote yes or no on approving the budget and will decide whether to continue the budget validation process for another three years.
